Scotland trip Part 6

Cairngorms Hiking Trip @Aviemore

Day 4 (a 2-part adventure)

Boat of Garten

Our fearless leader explaining what these shovels are used for. Notice the shovel is flat and made for fighting wildfires specifically in the peet on top of and below the ground
Loch Garten
Faerie Island
Such interesting root system
Beautiful Caledonia Pine Forest
The peaceful loch

On the way back from Hike #1 we saw a highland cow! We have all been waiting anxiously to see one. Kathy snapped a quick, perfect, photo!

Isn’t he cute?

Craigellachie National Nature Reserve

Second half of the day was optional but most (60%) of us gave it a go. We would be climbing as this morning’s route was pretty flat and short. We needed a challenge!

We all love the signage…
Up the mountain we go passing the birch trees
The way up
Up up up
The views are amazing
We can see three lochs from the top, or perhaps it was two lochs and a river…
Erin, Sheila and I made it to the top. 1000+ feet of elevation gain in 2 miles!

Another great day in the books. Our weather has been amazing and we know how lucky we are. And we have the best guide anyone could ask for. Go Stef!
