Scotland trip – Part 7

Cairngorms Hiking Trip @Aviemore

Day 5

Our last day hiking. We’re all a little sad but as usual our guide Stef has an excellent hike planned for us. And at the end of the day we all agreed it was a perfect ending to our days together.

Crossing Utsi’s bridge
The last reindeer to leave the feeding area. Thankfully Erin was quick enough to have her camera ready!
Heather covering the hills
A nice flat path after the climb
The ski resort and the moguls!!
A creek crossing coming up
Every day we had a “biscuit break” with a new treat provided by Stef. What a fun idea!!
My perfect image of a proper hike
Kathy, Erin and Stef took the challenge up one additional hill. It was intimidating!
They made it up and then disappeared for a bit. The wind was blowing like crazy on top so they said
Erin and Kathy proudly displaying the Scottish flag as they climbed to the tippity top of the hill
While we waited…
Mary with her red attire! We could always spot her on the trail..
Sheila with her big smile!
This route will take you to Balmoral Castle after 15 miles or so
Erin and Kathy having a bit of fun on the “slopes”
Heading back to the van

Next stop the Loch!

Loch Morlick

It was a busy place. We think nearly all the locals were there enjoying the sun and water. With the recent wildfires this loch was not available for anyone to use. It’s only been open for a week or so. It felt good to grab a beverage, find a picnic table and take a moment to relax…

Our hike is complete now. Our stats are:

Saturday 2 miles

Sunday 8 miles with elevation gain 600 feet+

Monday 8.75 miles with elevation gain 400 feet

Tuesday (2 hikes)

#1 3 miles with elevation gain 67 feet

#2 4 miles with elevation gain 1054 feet

Wednesday 4.6 miles with elevation gain 1000+

All of us were so amazing. A great group of women, an amazing leader and accommodations we all loved. Every morning we had a breakfast made to order and every evening a new local restaurant to try.

WalkingWomen knows how to share knowledge of their offered trips and keep every one of us safe. Thank you Stef!
