Scotland trip Part 9

Glasgow

The Duke of Wellington on his beloved horse Copenhagen. The Duke was famous for leading the army that defeated Napoleon Bonaparte at the Battle of Waterloo. His statue had a traffic cone placed on his head in the 1980’s as a prank which was removed each morning by city council, but it was put back on each night. Someone calculated it cost the city 10,000 pounds a year to remove it – so it remains today. The Scotty dog is part of a city-wide exhibit but I thought he was cute!

Our walking tour included several murals which were magnificent.

Glasgow is larger than I expected. It’s spread out and of course my hotel was a walk from the city Centre but I found a route along the River Clyde that I enjoyed more so than the streets.

While in Glasgow I enjoyed a couple museums and a musical (Mama Mia). More to come!
