Santiago Chile part 4 and final

June 2026

Quintessence Alpaca Farm was an amazing visit. These alpacas are so spirited and playful! Please read more about the company and how it began.

Aren’t these faces adorable?

Valle Nevado and Farellones Panoramic – Snow and Mountain Range

We were one week from the opening day of ski season but we had no plans to ski anyway! It was beautiful but so different from our Pacific NW ski slopes. We saw cactus on the way up the mountain and then the slopes. I could picture a day on the slopes.

One thing we didn’t realize is the road up the mountain is very narrow and extremely switchbacked. On a weekend during the season they allow one way traffic up in the morning and down in the afternoon. Better get up there early or you won’t be going!

Sky Constanera – 62 story skyscraper currently the tallest in South America.

Santiago Chile

Coffee at its most fun… the cutest place with a buzzer under the table to call for service! And I can’t remember the name sadly…

Well there you have it. Two weeks of fun, sightseeing, experiencing another culture and helping Tracie with her grandkids.

The one thing that I will remember the most about the trip is the concern shopkeepers that we did not know had…warning us to be very careful in their neighborhood. Theft of our purses and phones were top of the list. One place convinced us not to continue walking and encouraged us to call an Uber which we did. Needless to say we made it home without incident!
