Tracie and I are visiting my son Brian and his wife Francesca for a week!! I love visiting not only my kids but such a beautiful and vibrant city.
We took a walk heading towards the Brooklyn Bridge. Along the way we walked through Pratt Institute which had several Art installations.

We meandered into Fort Greene Park after we grabbed coffee, tea and snacks. I’ve been here before but it’s always good to hike the hill to see the monument.
Fort Greene Park contains the Prison Ship Martyrs’ Monument, which includes a crypt holding the remains of Patriot prisoners of war who died while being held on British prison ships in Wallabout Bay during the American Revolutionary War. Brian told us the crypt is open on special occasions but today was not one of them…

We made our way to DUMBO (Down Under Manhattan Bridge Overpass) where everyone had cameras and phones out. It’s an iconic shot for sure!

Next was a walk across the Brooklyn bridge. It was crowded but other than people jogging through the crowds it wasn’t bad. Why anyone would make the bridge part of their afternoon running route is beyond me!
Anyway it’s always special to see the Statue of Liberty from the bridge. A reminder of how we all landed here. Hmmm…

After pizza we were ready to find the subway and head home. The weather had been perfect all day. Now back for some down time and the anticipation of a delicious dinner.
Tomorrow we will walk Manhattan from top to bottom. Can’t wait!
