Pimbo to Fichous-Riumayou

Mileage: 11.5 Elevation gain: 1,284 feet

That is pronounced “fish-shoe ree-may you”. Say it with a French accent… Now that we’ve settled that, we’ll move on😆

The Pyranees
Our friend Emilina from Paris

We left Pimbo just after 8 and caught up with Emilina. She stayed at our hotel two nights ago and ate at the same dinner as we did last night and she speaks English. She sat with us later in the morning at a pilgrim rest stop. She’s between jobs but will begin a new career in elementary education in September. She didn’t enjoy her last job in product sales so quit and had some free time to do this walk.

Our rest stops are different than highway rest stops. No parking required, just a picnic table with shade, a water spout with potable water and a bathroom. We don’t ask for much.

I love the ivy covered buildings

Today was hilly with a small side of flat. The hills were really steep both ascending and descending and I have no photos as I was focusing on breathing!

The flat

We made it 30% of the way in the town of Arzacq- Arraziguet. The boulangerie for a sandwich and a bar for coffee and cola. There was also a grocery stop because the next two or three days are slim in support.

The very cute town of Arzacq- Arraziguet
We have all felt like this…
Lac d’Arzacq

We walked almost the entire way around this lake. It was an easy trail and then we left the lake and the hills began.

Later we had more flat which we appreciated.

The huge white dog didn’t care about us

The winding trail

Our goal was to be at our final destination by 3:30 since we both had massages for our feet scheduled for 4 pm. We were hoping to shower before. We arrived by 3:45 and couldn’t find anyone so I telephoned. The owner, also one of the masseuses said he would be right there. We moved the massages back 30 minutes and got it done.

Our very cute tiny house

The foot massage was very gentle but that might have been what we both needed. My feet are happy…

Next up was our relaxation time on the patio of this adorable tiny house. We weren’t sure when dinner was coming but knew by 7:30 we would have a meal and boy did we!

A quiche pizza, potato cake, salad, tiny pasta dish with mushrooms, a dinner roll, Brie and apple cobbler for dessert. Wow!

Our host delivered dinner and breakfast . Giving instructions as I intently listened.

Dinner and breakfast instructions

Dinner was wonderful and of course way too much food.

Before and after dinner an orange cat wandered by. The first visit he hung with me but the second visit he picked Tracie and of course she gave him some extra love and he was in love! It was adorable and he had to be convinced it was time to go.

Tracie got some big hugs…

Time for bed. It’s so light here until after 10 pm so we’re always late to bed. Bon nuit!
