Breakfast at 7 is always a good time. This morning was typical, bread toasted with butter and jam, yogurt plain and so creamy with a little jam added as well as granola, and coffee. We visited briefly with Danielle. And then Ray and Shiona.

Not sure what the purpose of these helicopter shells are but they’re just sitting at the corner of a road leading out of town

It sounds like this area was hit fairly hard by Saturday nights thunder storm. We saw photos of flooded trails and this photo above is evidence of the powerful water that came roaring down the hill.

We made it through the forests and farmlands and were looking forward to lunch. It had been 7 miles since breakfast!
We found a cafe open serving drinks but because it’s Wednesday, no lunch was being served. I’m not sure who comes up with all these rules but really? So we had to walk back across the highway to the market to find some food. Charleene was already seated at the cafe when we arrived so she kept an eye on our backpacks and we hurried back.

We turned a corner as we approached the town of Nogaro and found these beautiful portraits of pilgrims taken by the photographer, Jean-Michel Denard. As we walked past them one in particular stood out. The young man in the photo looks so much like my son-in-law it’s crazy! Nathan even agrees as I sent him the photo. I wish I could find out who he is.

We were finally in town, found our Gite and our room. Our host spoke English so that was helpful. Dinner at 7 and breakfast at 7:15 as he has to wait for the bakery to open to get fresh bread. We don’t mind!
Today’s walk was beautiful. We enjoyed vineyards, forests, farmlands and one town. Other than the 30-minute rain storm (wind and rain), the weather was short sleeve pleasant. I’ll take that any day!
