We have had some delicious food this past week in Italy but the last two nights have outdone anything we could have imagined!
A special meal prepared by a chef courtesy of our BnB near Fucecchio. For 25 euro each we were served this amazing meal, one course at a time, ending with biscotti and a white sweet wine similar in taste to port. It was very strong and not much was finished, but having local cuisine is special.
The meal consisted of crostini with 3 different toppings: liver, a pimento and goat cheese, and tomatoes. Pruscuito and salami, cubes of salty Parmesan, local olives and bread and crackers. Next was lightly sautéed veggies, grilled ribs, chicken and steak, and a local red wine. We were served in our apartment and didn’t have to do any dishes. Fabulous!!




Tonight’s dinner in San Miniato was equally amazing, but so very different. Pasta primarily. I had a house special ravioli filled with ricotta and truffle sauce with very thin truffle slices over the entire dish. Tracie had spaghetti with truffle sauce and more truffle slices, Steph had spaghetti with wild boar sauce and Linda had spaghetti and seafood. We ate all of it and enjoyed a salad prior to the pasta. Our pasta dishes ranged from 10 to 15 euros.
Our salad was thinly sliced carrots, zucchini, tomatoes, apples, melon, Parmesan cheese served in a bed of micro greens, topped with olive oil and balsamic.
