Tuesday September 20 2022. On the way to the airport this morning I could not wrap my head around the fact that Tracie and I were on our way to Italy. We are doing this – finally!

Over the past three years we have planned, purchased tickets, booked hotels, and then cancelled all of the above, not once but twice. 2020 it couldn’t be helped. The world was still substantially closed. 2021 should have been better but we chose Fall, and as our trip inched closer, traveling felt less secure, particularly when one of us was still employed and couldn’t afford to be delayed due to a covid quarantine. Cancel? Yes.

So here we are, flying from Portland to NYC and then on to Milan. From there we will take the train to Pisa, spend the night and climb the Leaning Tower in the morning.

Next will be a short train trip to Vernazza, one of five towns in the Cinque Terre, my favorite place🥰. A perfect spot for long overdue rest, relaxation, hiking, exploring, eating and enjoying life and the people we share it with. There we will meet Steph and Linda D, who will join us for the next 30 days. There will be adventures soon…
