What a view from the top!

We left our Airbnb around 8:30. We thought about arriving when the park opened at 6 am but it’s always most crowded then. Stand in line to wait for the door to open is not my favorite way to spend time.
We were close enough to Diamond Head that we could walk there, although it was 2.5 miles to arrive at the base of the climb. The day was already 73 but breezy so it felt amazing!
Once we were close to the park entrance we walked through the tunnel.

After paying our $5 entrance fee we started the gentle climb up. The pathway was smooth for quite a while. We felt fortunate that it wasn’t as crowded as it could have been. Beginning tomorrow you need a reservation, so today was an easy choice for us!

There was a nice long pedestrian tunnel towards the top.

The stairs began next. Tracie thought the entire climb was steps so this was a treat! apparently there were 99. We’ve done more.

Once at the summit the views were 360. Ocean, mountains, city, beaches and a lighthouse!

A really fun morning hike. Tired but happy!
