Hawaii May 10, 2022

After a 2-year wait, the day has finally arrived! Tracie and I are heading to Honolulu Hawaii to celebrate our 35th “friendiversary” . After we booked this trip we realized we’ve been friends for 35 years. Pretty amazing!

Anyway, This morning we pulled up to Tracie’s house at 6:45 am, exactly on time for our flight to Hawaii. This trip was originally booked for June 2020, and like the rest of the world, our trip was cancelled. At least Hawaiian airlines gave us a two-year grace period to rebook. Unlike Tap Air Portugal, which is an entire other story!

Leaving cloudy Portland this morning

Our original flight had changed twice and each time, our departure from PDX was later. Today’s flight left at 9:05. Perfect time of morning in my opinion!

We checked a bag each, waltzed through security with TSA-pre status and found a morning beverage. An Italiano for me, double espresso with equal part hot water. Delicious!

Right now we’re halfway to Honolulu. All the babies are sleeping now that they have been lulled to sleep. It was a little noisy for a while!

Tracie and I declined the breakfast burritos which smelled good. We had decided to wait til we landed to get something yummy in Hawaii. So far so good on the hunger front!

We have an Airbnb booked for the next 5 nights in Waikiki. We also have an interesting night tour booked tomorrow night, Night Sky. It’s a photo and/or paint opportunity. I’m coming with camera in hand and am very excited to see what we can do!

We have decided this trip will be a refresh on living a healthy lifestyle. Our day will begin with good stretching followed by a walk, followed by a stop at a coffee/tea cafe. There will be fresh fruit and lots of water. Later in the day we’ll grab a nice, filling but healthy meal that will get us through the evening and into the next day. Sunsets we look forward to from our balcony!

We have landed and the day is a perfect blend of clouds and sun and a nice breeze. We’re waiting for our room to open for us and then the real fun begins! Aloha!
