Knowing we had 18+ miles to walk today we tried to leave by 7 but were an hour late. Then there is always a coffee stop. Today was Pete’s coffee about 2 miles down the road which is enjoyable in that we get a couple miles under our belt and feel as though we’ve accomplished something.
Our path today was not too varied but there were sections off the main road into neighborhoods that were shaded and pretty.

Along the way today we saw several of the bells marking the El Camino Real. And we were walking along El Camino Real Road…

The temp today was supposed to be 82 for the high. Later in the day I checked the weather app only to find out the high today was now 89 and current temp was 88. How does this happen?
We stopped more times than planned mainly because of the heat. By the time we hit San Carlos it was time for a meal. 14 miles had gone by and we were both out of energy. I really wanted a burger but this town didn’t have anything along our path so we found a Mexican place with great outdoor seating. It was delicious! We both ordered the tostada salad with grilled chicken. It did the trick!

This whole downtown area of San Carlos was so cute. There were a few blocks where the street was blocked off from cars and there was seating for the many.

At days end we had walked 19.5 miles. Yikes I do not want to do that again. We are safely tucked into our hotel close to the Dumbarton Bridge. Time to close my eyes!
