Yosemite Day 3

After a busy Day 2, we were all exhausted and slept hard. The day began kinda slow, but the sun was out and it promised to be a gorgeous morning.

We stopped at the closest Yosemite general store first thing to buy a couple souvenirs. Rick decided a t-shirt was a “must buy” and the kids had something in mind. Alden selected a tool that had a compass, so naturally he announced directional changes as we hiked. Lucy bought a puzzle which might be an evening activity.

From the general store we hiked to the base of Yosemite Falls. It was so amazing! It is the tallest falls in the US. It has a top, middle and lower falls and to become the tallest, all three are added together. 2,425 feet in total!

We headed back to the market and drove to a different location for pizza. As Lucy says, we are having pizza for linner (Lunch/dinner). We brought a lot of food with us on this trip so will try our best to use some of it later tonight.

After linner, we drove the long way back to camp. Everything in Yosemite is amazing and it feels like you simply can’t get enough of the tall mountains!

Stef wanted to show us the most famous boulder in the US, Midnight Lightning. Apparently it is extremely difficult to climb and has been described as the world’s most famous bouldering problem. It sits in the middle of a campground and during normal times, there would have been a crowd.

Stef explaining the technical issues with the Boulder…

The kids had no problem entertaining themselves.

We stopped along the road to view El Cap. There were a few climbers that looked like ants on the wall.

Finally heading back to camp, we made up a stories in the car. That was fun!

Saw a coyote in the meadow (no pics…) Earlier in the day we saw a bobcat slinking near the falls. It was not more than 20 feet away. That was a first for me!

Bridal Veil Falls

We enjoyed a relaxing evening down by the beach/ River. The kids played and Stef and I took photos.

This former tree had the kids attention.

Campfire, wine, and wind down

The log in the fire almost looked like the alligator tree we saw earlier

Good night Yosemite!
