Due to Covid in 2020, several trips were cancelled for me. The last trip of 2020 was to be Italy for 3+ weeks with my bestie Tracie. We are now prepping for a 3-day hike in the Pacific Northwest. It will be a beautiful hike, but it’s not Italy. Gelato… I will miss you!
We’ve gone through a series of ideas that for one reason or another, failed. Keep in mind that the wildfires began small and kept going and going and going – burning over a million acres in Oregon. One trail section was closed and then slowly (or quickly depending on your point of view…) the fires hopped and skipped through acres of beautiful forests and towns, leaving devastation.
Tracie and I were determined to find an adventure to be remembered. We think we found a good one. Our past attempts include:
A- Italy cancelled due to Covid and travel ban
B – Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) 40-miles, ending in Olallie closed due to wildfires
C – PCT 40 miles, starting along Hwy 58, ending near Elk Lake also closed due to wildfires
D – Oregon Coast closed due to unsafe air quality and all state parks were closed for two weeks
E- Mount Hood Loop (40 miles around the mountain) – all trails were closed during our planning timeframe
F – yay! Here we are…
We begin in the morning at Marble Point and three days later finish at Anthony Lakes. The weather will be sunny and clear but cold mornings are forecasted. Wish us luck!
