August at the Oregon Coast (Day 2)

A slow start to the day, camp coffee, hard boiled eggs, bacon and fruit. Not a bad way to begin any day!

We wanted to hike at Alfred A Loeb State Park, but all website info except our campground materials suggested it was currently closed. Taking a chance we headed that way after a quick espresso stop.

Trails and campground were truly closed and they really meant it. They spent some energy on the barricades!

I have to go back sometime in the future as the Trail includes a large myrtlewood grove and the most northern Redwood trees. A shame they chose to close this park. Lack of funding and staff due to COVID…

We headed north on Hwy 101 towards Samuel H Boardman Scenic Area and found the trail we wanted. A 1-mile loop at Thomas Creek Whaleshead Beach Trail, connecting a short distance on Hwy 101, and back Into the forested trail towards Indian Sands.

The entire hike was filled with gorgeous views, hills both up and down and more views.

We stopped for lunch along the Indian Sands Trail and had an excellent spot to enjoy our food.

Wow! The Oregon Coast does have an amazing coastline. I am so fortunate to be able to enjoy it.
