Continuing our monthly getaway from home, we headed south on I-5, took a right at Eugene and went west towards the Oregon Coast.
The morning promised blue skies and no jacket required: however as we approached Highway 101, the fog had not yet lifted. Where is my jacket?!
Our first stop of the day was at the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area along the Siuslaw River. The climb was steep, but the soft sand felt so good between our toes. The ocean was still bathed in a layer of fog, and it was beautiful. We walked along the beach for a while in the shallow sea, enjoying the refreshing coolness of the Pacific Ocean.

We kept driving south along Hwy 101 until we reached Harris Beach State Park just north of Brookings OR. We checked in, set up camp and took a walk on the beach.
Gorgeous views…

We didn’t stay for the sunset as the sky had turned gray and the setting sun would not be too impressive. Hoping tomorrow night will be better.
Campfire is lit, wine has been poured and we are winding down. 300+ miles, new scenery and a break in our COVID routine is good.
