We saw them! The sky was clear, the moon was nearly full but we could see the Big Dipper hovering over the mountains in Þingvellir National Park.
The temp outside was 20 degrees, and let me just say that cold creeps in slowly and stays until a heat source is found!
Back outside the wait was on. About 45 minutes of waiting, I took one photo that had the green suggestion across the sky. I think we have the lights tonight!


Photo after photo taken, despite frozen hands. I had no tripod so kept holding my breath when I pushed the button on my camera to keep movement to a minimum. Eventually Tracie offered her shoulder and I took it.
It was quite an experience and certainly one I will not forget!
