Venezia to Milano

Tuesday October 23, 2018

Today we said farewell to Venice. We had one stormy afternoon and the rest of the 3 days were filled with sunshine, narrow streets, getting lost and then found. It is truly a magical archipelago

Everyone thinks of Venice as an island but it really is an archipelago due to the many small islands that make up the place known as Venice. I thought that was a fun fact!

On the way to the Venice train station, the early morning work was in full scale. Boats are still used to transport goods. We had someone ring our doorbell before we left asking if we had trash. I gave them a full bag. I’m not sure I was supposed to but we were leaving.

I caught Suzanne falling asleep and when she heard the camera click she woke up and wasn’t nice…

The display was advertising an art show (or movie) titled paparazzi. Pretty sure that was Marilyn and JFK but two guys stood in front of the display the entire time I was holding my camera

Milano

We arrived on time and found our hotel without too many extra steps! Despite the fact that it’s 2 flights up with no elevator, it’s a good place to spend the night.

We wanted to see the Duomo and it was within walking distance so we took off to find it.

While walking we saw some interesting buildings.

Then we arrived at the Duomo, purchased tickets to go inside and stood in a very short entry line.

This church is so big…

Suzanne is standing in front of one of the many pillars holding the church together

The tiles appear to be cut out so every leaf and design is a separate tile. Very cool!

The sun was setting as we stepped outside and it was beautiful!

We found an American dinner which we were not planning on looking for it was so delicious.

It must be time to head home!

A few pics on our way back to the hotel. A most unique Apple store two floors below the street.

Dolce & Gabana has some interesting windows.

Time for bed and to catch one last train tomorrow for Paris. We are prepared for a weather change. Cooler temps by 10 degrees or more. I hope we can handle it!
