Today is Suzanne’s birthday. Happy birthday to you sister! She slept in and I went for an early morning walk. I love the morning light so I had to go!

I continued on my morning walk through the streets and alleys and found gondolas being parked and cleaned, more artfully displayed windows and finally San Marco Square.

The morning was chilly and overcast. Forecast said rain by 4 pm but it started raining before Noon. We had a walking tour and gondola ride scheduled to begin at 3 pm so we knew we would be wet and cold! Correct we were!

The day started out ok… then the thunder and lightning and rain came

We were so cold after a few hours of rain that we were searching for warm clothes to buy. I found a sweater, jacket and jeans and socks at two different stores and by dinner I managed to warm up. Suzanne searched in vain for something else to wear and had to be ok with what she had. Basically once we got out of our wet shoes and rain ponchos we felt better.
We missed our walking tour start due to time spent closing windows before we left, umbrella ducking and dodging, and we stopped to buy a poncho for Sue. We will do the tour tomorrow and hope for a better day!
All in all I think Suzanne had a pretty good birthday. It’s not every year you can celebrate your special day in Venice!
