This morning we leave Lucca to head to Rome for a project we cannot talk about just yet. This post will be short and possibly mysterious but it has to be part of our journeys recording,, so here goes…
After last evenings honest assessment of our belongings and what we were willing to leave behind, we leave our my duffel in our room. The bag is filled with items to mail home when we return to Lucca on Monday. We’re both interested to see how many pounds we are relieving our packs from! I will promise that when I do another camino, there will be nothing extra in my pack and it will feel as comfortable as possible before I leave my home!
Our first stop was Firenze (Florence) with final destination Rome. We were driven to Isola Farnese which is a tiny but very quaint village.

During the quiet afternoon we met some wonderful people which we can speak of later.
We had the most delicious dinner at a local restaurant, Osteria dei Briganti. They served warm bread, a cross between focaccia and a flour tortilla cooked in a hot pizza oven. For pasta we had carbonara and ravioli with pomodoro sauce. Both were delicious dishes, but my carbonara was the best!!

We did order salads but they arrived AFTER we ate all the pasta and there was no room left for the green stuff. They wouldn’t take them back and insisted we eat them so we had them packaged to go. We did share a tirimusu that was quite delicious. It was a lovely dinner and perhaps the most food we have eaten in one meal so far.

We had a nice walk back to our very plain room and said goodnight. Tomorrow we go back to Lucca to begin our walk. I’m so ready to not be on a train and seated. I want to walk!
