Friday @ Le Monastere des Augustines

We woke to the quiet falling of snow. At this point it looks like three feet cover the ground. That is amazing to me. The Quebec City folks seem to take it all in stride but I hear rumblings they are ready for the snow to melt!  I think its beautiful!

I had my first Reflexology appointment today and it was wonderful. One entire hour of having my feet massaged and pressure points engaged. My calves participated as well, but it was mainly for the feet which are the window to the body’s organs. The therapist  mentioned that often if you have something going on with an organ, you will feel pain in some form during the massage. I didn’t feel any, so I’m happy with that result. I will definitely consider finding a good reflexologist in Portland when I get home.  I also notice my bursa (heel) is looking and feeling better following this treatment. I may need to find a reflexologist when I return home!

This morning I had time for a cappuccino from the boutique which was a nice treat. I met up with Tracie after her follow-up stretching, movement and posture appointment while we waited for our Noon yoga class to begin. I will admit yoga is not my preferred form of exercise. It is relaxing at the beginning and end of each class, but some of the movements in the middle of class take practice and skill and flexibility. I might get there one day, but for me right now I can see possibly a weekly yoga class to encourage stretching.  I do love a little more vigorous form of movement.   Time will tell how this goes!

Today Tracie and I took the tour through the monestary. We walk past all of these interesting artifacts every time we go to our room, but don’t really know much about the history.  Three young nuns took off from the Normandy area of France in 1639 and came to this location. Their initial work was to convert locals to Christianity but they also eventually opened the first hospital north of Mexico. More on the tour tomorrow.

The rest of the day was somewhat quiet. We met at 5:30 for our evening “wind down” yoga class.  Laying on your back, breathing quietly is an excellent way to relax. This is the best type of yoga in my book!

We get glimpses of the nuns here, but today there was a small group with a very young boy entertaining them. It was cute!

Dinner and time for bed. Tonight I vow to turn the lights off at 10 pm so we can get up in time for the 7 am meditational yoga class. I haven’t been yet, so I better get up tomorrow and go!
